Lawn Bowling, or simply Bowls, is played on a large smooth grass surface called a "green". Equipment includes bowls - hard, weighted balls that are designed not to travel in a straight line (no matter how hard you try) and a small, white ball called a "jack"; and a mat from which you bowl.
The object of Bowls, as in Bocce or curling, is to get your bowls closer to the jack than the other team. Rules and terminology are similar to curling.
The Club was established in 1924. It is managed and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteer bowlers. It is a beautiful facility located south of Hwy 26 at 205 Ontario Street in Stayner. The Club House is equipped with a kitchen and washrooms with indoor and outdoor seating. The facility has eight bowling "rinks".
One of the best things about Lawn Bowling is that it doesn't require a lot of expensive equipment. We lend you the bowls to play. The game provides low impact exercise so great for all ages in a fun and relaxing social atmosphere. Open Bowling Mondays and Wednesdays at 10am, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm. The teams are made up when you arrive. In-house and district tournaments are also organized throughout the season. Lawn bowling is a fun and relaxing casual game or can be competitive.
